Rocking Mid-life - wear the dress!

Being in the mid-life phase doesn't mean compromising on confidence or style. In fact, it's the perfect time to embrace your strong body and rock your favourite dress with confidence! 

We don’t often speak about Perimenopause in positive terms (mostly with swear words) but one of the fantastic things that has happened to me during perimenopause (and my friends feel the same) is that I care less and less with every passing year about what other people think of me. 🙌 Embracing this newfound freedom led me to a fantastic realization: why wasn’t I wearing my  favourite dresses more often, no matter the occasion or setting. After all, who cares if it's 'out of place' when you look and feel absolutely fabulous?

Let’s chat about what self-confidence looks like, share tips for achieving a strong, toned body and offer style advice to help you look and feel amazing.  I want to smash the stereotypes and show the world that mid-life is a time of empowerment, giving zero sh__s what others think about us and 100% self-expression (and eventually no periods woo hoo)!

1. Embrace Your Inner Confidence:

Self-confidence is the key to feeling great at any age. Mid-life women often face unique challenges, but it's crucial to remember that age is just a number. Embrace your life experiences, wisdom, and accomplishments, and let them shine through your self-assured demeanor. Start by practicing positive affirmations, setting realistic goals, and surrounding yourself with a supportive community of like-minded women.

If you struggle with self sabotage or limiting beliefs or perhaps even suppressed trauma or PTSD, self confidence can be a hard thing to maintain, or at best, be up and down like a roller coaster. 2. Building a Strong Body:

Maintaining a strong body is essential for overall health and confidence. Resistance training makes me feel invincible.  There is NOTHING like lifting heavy things, seeing your body shape change and being able to carry ALL of your own purchases-groceries, gardening supplies or DOGS.  Incorporate regular exercise into your routine to improve strength, flexibility, and energy levels. Popular search terms like "mid-life fitness," "strength training for women," and "low-impact exercises" can guide you towards effective workout regimens. Consider activities such as resistance training, yoga, pilates, or swimming to build muscle tone, improve bone health, and increase overall fitness.  My personal fitness routine to achieve all of those goals includes resistance training, yoga and walking. 3. Nurturing a Healthy Lifestyle:

A healthy lifestyle goes hand in hand with a strong body and confident mindset. Prioritize nutrition by following a balanced diet that includes nutrient-dense foods and plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Search terms like "mid-life nutrition," "healthy eating for women," and "anti-aging foods" can lead you to valuable information and recipes tailored to your needs. 4. Dressing with Style and Elegance:

Looking great in your favourite outfit is about finding styles that suit your body shape, embrace your personality, and make you feel AMAAAHZING about yourself. Experiment with different cuts, colors, and patterns to find what works best for you. Consider investing in high-quality, timeless pieces that can be dressed up or down, and don't be afraid to accessorize to add a personal touch to your outfits.  Curate your wardrobe Marie Kondo style – everything you wear you should feel fabulous in or it doesn’t deserve to be there.


Mid-life is a time of empowerment, self-discovery, and embracing your true potential. You are not done yet.  You may be only just beginning in many areas of your life.  By nurturing confidence, building a strong body, and dressing with style, you can defy stereotypes and show the world that age is no barrier to looking and feeling fabulous. Let go of excuses and step into your most fabulous self. Remember, you are strong, beautiful, and capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.  Oh, and don’t wait for a special event to wear your favourite clothes – if you’ve followed me for a minute you know my motto is “wear the dress”.  Anytime, anywhere!.
